Sophie is a Moorman–Simon assistant professor of Linguistics and Data Science at Boston University, and the PI of Cinnamonlab. Her research is on interpretability for natural language processing (NLP), with the aim of developing an interdisciplinary science of deep neural language models. Outside of work, Sophie is a recreational violinist, ballet dancer, and pizza critic.
Sophie was recently a postdoc without a supervisor in Data Science at New York University, where she worked with Tal Linzen, Sunoo Park, Saadia Gabriel, Byung-Doh Oh, and many of their amazing students. Sophie earned her PhD in Linguistics and Computer Science at Yale University with Bob Frank and Dana Angluin.
Sophie has absolutely no relation to Sophia Hao or Yi Ding.
